National Drugs Information Unit (NDIU) was set up in October 2006 at the Office for Combating Drugs Abuse of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. Primary purpose of the NDIU is to gather, analyse, interpret and distribute drug abuse data in Croatia. In addition, the NDIU fulfils other obligations regarding cooperation with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) which coordinates the system of monitoring the state of the drugs problem at European level. As an EU candidate country, the Republic of Croatia is actively involved in the activities of the EMCDDA’s Reitox network and is expecting its accession to the EMCDDA.
